Rub-N-Color

Today we made a trip to Borders. They are closing the store where we usually shop, and everything was on sale. While browsing around my oldest son found Rub-N-Color. I have seen this on tv before they make it look so fun, and the colors so bright plus the best thing no mess since you just rub it and the color shows up. When we got home and of course my son wanted to open it right away to color I was so dissapointed. The colors are not bright at all! It looks like very light color pencil. Some parts you can barely see any color at all. You have to rub really hard to get the color to show up too. My husband took one of the pages and rubbed all the colors and by the time he was done his arm was tired. The textures they say you can color on are so hard for my son to use he just threw it to the side. This is such a waste of money! They advertise on the box that you can have darker colors the more you rub, but you cant! It's just frustrating for my son to use. This will be another of those coloring things that sits in his drawer and will eventually get thrown away. At least we got it on clearance price. I would never suggest buying it though it is so not worth your time or money. A good coloring book and crayons work so much better. But yes with crayons you can have the mess or occasional drawing on the wall.... :)

I wish Coffee would do more

Over the past 2 weeks we have had alot as a family going on. My husband just started a new job with a new schedule, and its going to take awhile for us to get used to it. I play taxi driver to everyone now which saves us on parking and gas at least, but I am exhausted. I literally have been drinking coffee hoping that the caffeine will perk me up, but caffeine has no affect on me or at least I never feel it. I at least like the taste. But when you are up in the middle of the night off and on with an almost 3 month old, then up at 6 am. Then you drive everyone around finally get back home about 9 something. I am ready for a nap. The bad part I can never get a nap. The baby will be out in his carseat, my 2 year old is wide awake and not ready for a nap until 11. So I am up cleaning, organizing, and playing with the kids all day. Go and pick up my oldest son from school, and its like hyper city here when he gets home. By 5 I am picking up my husband from work come home and try to get dinner going. Then its showers, or nagging kids all night. By the time the kids are finally in bed I am sitting on the couch like a walking zombie. Both my husband and I are looking at the clock by 9 asking ourselves if we should go to bed that early or try to stay up. It's been half and half on the results. I will say I have been asleep pretty fast, usually it takes me hours to fall asleep. Then I wake up and again I am ready for coffee and hoping it perks me up. 3 kids definately keep me running, 3 boys I would say the freaking keep me running constantly, 3 boys and playing taxi driver, I want more coffee please!!!! I am so ready for the weekend!

Taking the plunge into Cloth Diapers

If you would have asked me 5 1/2 years ago if I would cloth diaper my kids. I would have laughed and said no. The image of cloth diapering is scary, you have to deal with these icky disgusting diapers filled with poop, and pee, and who knows what else. But after my first 2 boys, and listening to other moms stories about cloth diapering I decided it couldn't be that bad. I started researching cloth diapers when I became pregnant with my third baby. I was so overwhelmed by the information out there on different types of cloth diapers, different soaps to use, different ways just to fold the diapers, and wash them. I almost gave up. I ended up being more confused than I started. I mean what in the world is a prefold, or AOI. What the heck is a bumgenius, or a fuzzinbunz. I seriously had no clue, but I found some cute names for the products. I Just didnt understand all the information being thrown at me. Finally I dont know how but things started to make sense. I found youtube videos on prefold diapers. They looked easy to use. I mean you have a diaper cloth fold it into 3 put a snappi on, and a cover. So after I convinced myself this wasn't too difficult I decided to buy a couple econobum prefold packs. They had 1 prefold, and 1 cover. They were on sale for $4 each so I figured if I hated it I could sell them, or worst came to worst I wouldnt lose to much money. When I got my little package in the mail, I couldn't wait to open it. I was amazed at how cute they were, the prefolds were so soft, the covers didnt feel all plasticky. They looked like they would be comfortable for the baby. I had to show them to everyone. Plus I loved that they were an all in one diaper. They have snaps that I can adjust so they fit the baby probably until potty training. Well I love that! Then I started to get excited. I found a local shop that sold cloth diapers, so my husband and I took a trip over and looked at all the different options. I had a wonderful conversation with one of the women that worked there, and she explained all the different options for me. I left with 2 packages of prefolds, and another cover this time a thirsties one. I also bought 1 snappi to try to use. So now I was starting my stash. A few days later I saw a groupon type sale for that same store so I bought it and went and got a wetbag, a couple cute covers, wipes, and another package of prefolds. I was now ready to start washing these diapers and getting them ready for my new baby to arrive. Now my baby is almost 3 months old. We have been cloth diapering for the most part, my inlaws bought us diapers and I have used them a couple times when I am on the go. But I love my cloth diapers! They are the easiest laundry I have. I was on the phone today and I took all my clean diapers and covers and piled them up in my tub and they are ready to go. 2 minutes! No folding required! Who wouldn't love that? I line dry them too and its the easiest thing to hang up and walk away from. I dread my other laundry, but when its time to wash the diapers its the easiest thing for me to do. I wish I would have looked into this sooner. It would have saved me a ton of money using cloth instead of disposable. I have found disposables stink so much more than cloth I dont notice the cloth diapers stink at all, but disposables its like I am running through the house with a bag at arms length trying to get it out to the trash bin. I prefer these cute cloth diapers now, and I am completely converted. If you decide to take the plunge into cloth diapers, just dont let yourself get overwhelmed with the different types. If you can find a local store around you that can show you in person what they look like, what the benefits are of different types. It is alot better in person than viewing online to me personally. But you can get alot of advice online too. Just take one type at a time until something pops out to you. Cloth diapers are awesome! My husband loves them too! Its not a huge hassles, and you dont have to use the safety pins anymore. They are a simple as disposables. Just dont over think it or it becomes complicated. I hope you take a shot at it, then you can see how great it is! You can save money, and waste by doing cloth instead and its definately worth it.

First School Show

Some days being a mom is just amazing. I cant believe that I have a kindergartener, or the fact that I have 3 kids already. Time flies by way to fast for me. I think any parent would say this.

Today was my oldest sons first school show. It was all the kindergarten classes together. They stood on stage singing valentine songs to all the parents. It was so cute to see all these kids perform. Watching my son sing, and do each song was amazing to me. It is truly amazing going through all these milestones for each child. We took him out to dinner afterwards to celebrate how well he did, and he had a blast. I cant wait for more of these school functions, and to see what he becomes interested in as far as extras. But for now this show was the greatest. We will be making all his valentines for class this weekend too. I cant wait to hear all about his first valentines day at school.

Adding to my stash!

I decided to attempt cloth diapering with my third boy. I thought about doing it with my second but I never got to it. I absolutely hate all the waste that disposable diapers create and I have talked with other moms that absolutely love their cloth diapers, so I really wanted to try it. I started out buying Econobum diapers with a prefold included. When I got my hands on them I couldnt believe how soft they were, and was so excited. So I went ahead and bought a bunch more prefolds, and one more cover. I bought a small wet bag to start too. After 2 months of using cloth diapers, I finally decided time to add more. So I bought 2 more Econobum covers from cotton babies online. I love this site! They have great sales and I bought these covers as seconds that have small flaws but not very big enough to notice. They were less than $5 each! I then went into EcoPolitan which is a cloth diapering store close to me, and I bought a larger size wetbag. I loved the one I found. The best part too is EcoPolitan was having their 1 year birthday so I entered their drawing for prizes, and I won a gift bag. So now I get to test out some more eco friendly products of theirs. I cant wait! I am just so excited to be actually using the cloth diapers, and I can already see that I will be saving a ton of waste, and money doing it this way. I would definately suggest cloth diapers to any parent!

Wow things have not calmed down

So had my baby boy November 29th. He was 3 weeks early and still 8 pounds. We have been going none stop since then. The holidays kept us busy running around and visiting family. We finally got past that and things were calming down, but then last week we got a big present to make our second Christmas. Awhile back in October they had the McDonalds Monopoly game going and we won a gift card to walmart. We finally got it in the mail so big shopping spree over the past week. Major things that we bought were a new tv, and the xbox kinect. I should do a review on the Kinect I think because it is really kind of neat. But let me say when you have money to spend its funny what you buy. I ran through the aisles and grabbed the glad tupperware packages, a new water filter, more food saver bags, and plastic tubs to help organize. The best part was being able to use the gift cards at Sams club, I stocked up on some food items that we needed. This past year has been so tight on our family financially this was the greatest gift we could get. Now I can use this money instead of our money from my husbands paychecks and get groceries for awhile. I think it is going to be a yearly thing though from now on to play the McD's monopoly since now we know you really can win something from it. :)

I promised myself I am going to start posting more. So hopefully I can keep this up.

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

Well here I am things have been extremely hectic over the past few months. I am due to deliver my third baby boy in the middle of December, but due to complications that I have every pregnancy it can be anytime between now, and the end of the month. I am impatient to meet this little guy that has enjoyed kicking me, and trying to push my rib cage out. I am excited to say I bought my first set of cloth diapers and I will attempt cloth diapering this baby the whole time. Who knew there were so many cute diapers? My husband and I were just browsing around looking at these different types, and patterns. I am going to go buy more hopefully in the next week I was able to score a $50 coupon for $24....Yay!!!
I am also working on finishing my baby blanket for our hospital trip almost done with it. I already finished baby booties, and I have a hat to start that should only take a couple hours hopefully. Then time to knit another hat for my second son so he stops trying to put on a little baby one he had....lol
So normal business here. I have another doctors appointment today. Hoping to find out some test results and they are doing an ultrasound to check the baby again. We will see how it goes. They may put me on a nonstress test again too which is always fun when bringing a 2 year old... But gotta keep up with this little guy and make sure he is doing good. I cant wait to hold him in my arms and see what he looks like. :)
